constituents. >> harry reid calls it pointless as it passes the house and thoms back -- as it comes back to the senate and they say it will die another death. where do we go from here? >> i think it is unfortunate that at least so far harry reid has made the decision to compromise on nothing and fight on every front. he basically said he is willing to force a government shutdown in order to insist that obamacare be implemented against every american family. 24r* are millions of americans who are hurting and losing their jobs and who are finding jobs and forced into part-time work and be forced into, woulding 29 hours a week because of obamacare. they are fogs sky rock qeting -- sky rocketing insurance preem -- premiums. what harry reid has said was he was not interested in hearing their pleas. he is not interested in responding to the harms. president obama has granted waivers for giant corporations and members of congress and here harry reid is saying he will shutdown the government rather than allowing the same waivers to the families. i hope he pulls back. that is not doing the job he

to act, in my view harry reid should call the senate back in today. we have a bill in front of us, there is a government shutdown in 48 hours. listen, i would love to be in houston with my two little girls playing with them this afternoon, but as you know i'm here in washington, d.c., as you know the senate should not be on vacation -- >> you know, the senate has acted, the majority leader would say, passed a bill to keep the government open. and then we've gone back to delaying or de-funding obama care. should they take a part of it? would you filibuster this bill? >> let's be clear what the senate has done so far. so far, majority leader harry reid has essentially told the house of representatives and the american people go jump in the lake, he said i am not willing to compromise or talk. his position is obama care must be funded 100% in all instances or he will shut the government down. i hope he doesn't do that, david, i hope he backs away from the ledge he is pushing us towards. but that is his position. >> but senator, even republicans that i have spoken to, your colleagues

things that are important. one, a one year delay of obama care. that's their answer to harry reid and senate democrats stripping that defund effort we heard so much about. the second amendment is a repeal of a medical device tax that helped to fund obama care. it sounds like a small issue. why are republicans putting that in there? because senate democrats voted to repeal that tax, don't like it, they're trying to put political pressure on democrats not to flip flop on the little medical device tax. if they flip flop, harry reid has procedural problems. they're trying to put on political pressure. they'll do one more thing, pass a companion bill to fund the pentagon and troops in the event of shutdown so troops aren't left without pay. >> we heard from senator harry reid say he is not dealing with any piece of legislation that does anything to obama care. what are you hearing from senate staffers. >> reporter: he said that. they're saying the same thing. procedurally it is pretty interesting, we think we know where this is probably headed based on the arcane procedure baked into t
